Xplor Bravest Race 2026 is one day, 20 September, and registration closes 19 September. The park south of Playa del Carmen turns its caves, rivers, and jungle paths into a 6 km course with 53 obstacles, 12 waves, and a cap of 3,240 runners.
This edition is billed as El Origen: Libro II, the Earth chapter after 2025's opening book. Xcaret's race site is not a temporary set dropped on a field. The obstacles use the same flooded caverns, zip infrastructure, and uneven limestone the park already runs every day. That is why a first-timer from Quinta Avenida should train on dirt and stairs, not only on the malecón.
Pick a wave, then add two hours
Waves start at 8:00 a.m. and run every 30 minutes through 2:00 p.m., with an 11:00 a.m. break. Official copy says about 270 people per wave. Arrive at least two hours before your start. You need photo ID (INE, passport, or immigration document), a signed waiver, and the Xplor helmet, which staff hand out one hour before you go and take back at the finish.
Minimum age is 16. Runners aged 16 and 17 must come with a parent or legal guardian. Registration is personal and non-transferable. If a wave is gone, the site will not invent a thirteenth. Check xplorbravestrace.com before you taxi south.
What actually costs money on race day
The 2026 registration page hides the live ticket total behind the checkout, so treat the official cart as the price, not last year's 1,260 / 1,890 MXN figures from 2023 social posts. Regular entry covers one start time, a race shirt, a medal, a bib, and the helmet. VIP adds the photo package, a souvenir, and breakfast.
The Photo Pass is priced in the open: 399 MXN in pre-sale, 499 MXN on race day, 599 MXN after. It is individual. If you skip VIP and still want pictures, buy the pass online before 20 September. After the race, Xcaret lists 800 006 FOTO from Mexico and +52 55 4163 7327 from abroad, plus foto@xcaret.com.
Pack a full change of clothes, a light towel, and something to sit on for the Bravest Party. You will finish in mud and cave water. The party is inside Xplor, so family who are not racing still need a plan for waiting, food, and a dry bag. Do not drink and drive the 307 back to Playa. Colectivos and pre-booked taxis are the sane exit.
Common first-race mistakes, from Xcaret's own briefing: going out too fast, training only aerobic miles, skipping hydration points, and treating every obstacle as a pass/fail exam. If you cannot complete one, tell the course judge. There is no published cutoff time. The point of Libro II is to get through Earth without wrecking your knees for Monday.
