The Riviera Maya Jazz Festival is a free beachfront jazz event expected to return 27 to 29 November 2026 at Mamitas Beach in Playa del Carmen. The festival has run since 2003 and brings internationally recognised jazz artists to a stage set on the sand, with the Caribbean Sea behind. Entry is free and open to the public, with VIP seating available for purchase. Bring a blanket or low chair, as seating is not provided. The festival is one of the few large cultural events on the coast with no ticket cost, which makes it the busiest single weekend of the year on Playa del Carmen's beach.

The Festival of Life and Death Traditions is Xcaret Park's annual Day of the Dead celebration, now in its 17th edition, running 30 October to 3 November 2026. This year the guest state is Michoacán, whose Purépecha traditions anchor the programme of music, dance, theatre and visual art. Activities run from 3:45 PM to 10:30 PM daily inside Xcaret Park, south of Playa del Carmen. Entry is MXN 1,800 (about USD 90) and special ADO buses run from Playa del Carmen and Cancún. The festival is one of the most accessible ways to see a real Mexican Día de los Muertos observance rather than a tourist show.

The third Feria Xcaret de Arte Popular Mexicano runs 24 to 27 September 2026 at the Hacienda Henequenera inside Parque Xcaret, south of Playa del Carmen. Organizer Grupo Xcaret invites 150 artisans for exhibition, direct sales, demonstrations, lectures, a contest, and evening runways. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Access is included with any Xcaret Park ticket, or 200 MXN for the fair only at park booths and on Fever. Xcaret hotel guests enter on their stay. Xcaret does not take a commission on stall sales. Contest first prizes are 100,000 MXN per category, with an Escudo Nacional theme added for 2026. Lectures are at 4:00 p.m. in the Guadalupe Chapel (Spanish). Artisan fashion shows are listed at 5:30 p.m. on 24, 25, and 26 September; confirm the traditional-clothing runway against the live program, because the FAQ lists Sunday 26 and the calendar Sunday is 27 September.

Pro Padel League brings its 2026 North American tour to Poliforum Playa del Carmen from 24 to 27 September, the first PPL stop in Quintana Roo. The hometown franchise Mexico Waves, the only Mexican club in the ten-team league, defends the title it won in Los Angeles. Organizers cited a purse above 150,000 USD, more than 8,000 spectators over four days, and a broadcast aimed at more than 100 countries, including CNBC and Telemundo in the United States. Mayor Estefanía Mercado presented the event with promoters César and Leonel Fernández del Campo. Named players include Maxi Arce, David Gala, and Alex Ruiz, listed among the world's top 30. The 2026 calendar also includes New York (already played), Los Angeles, Guadalajara (19 to 22 November), and the City's Cup Finals in Miami (3 to 6 December). The third Apapaxoa GastroCultural Festival runs 18–23 September 2026 at Hotel Xcaret Arte, with activations at Hotel Xcaret México, La Casa de la Playa, and select Xcaret parks. Organizer Grupo Xcaret frames the edition around “The Colors of Mexico,” gathering the 23-chef Xcaret Gastronomic Collective plus more than 50 guests from 15 countries (more than 70 Michelin stars combined). Ticketed packages, chef dinners, brunches, a book fair, and a closing concert by Emmanuel on 23 September are sold on apapaxoa.com. Highlighted dinners include a homage to Dominique Crenn on 19 September and The Legacy table at Gran Tlachco on 22 September for Xcaret's 35th anniversary.

Gitano's official Tulum calendar lists Friday 18 September 2026 as a Gypsy Disco Special Edition for Mexican Independence Day week: 18:00 until late at Gitano Jungle on the Boca Paila road. The Ticket Fairy on-sale includes guest list (welcome tequila before 22:00), cover about MXN 550 plus fees (welcome drink; door price listed at MXN 800), one-hour open bar from about MXN 770, and dinner/VIP tables. Ages 18+. This is a ticketed jungle dinner-and-disco, not the municipal Grito.

Mexico's Independence celebrations in Playa del Carmen follow a fixed civic calendar: the Grito on the night of 15 September and the civic-sporting parade on 16 September. The traditional civic venue is Plaza 28 de Julio (Av. 20, Centro). In 2025 the municipality moved the Grito to Estadio Mario Villanueva for crowd capacity; as of 24 August 2026 the 2026 headliner and exact 2026 stage had not been published. Papaya Playa Project bills Saturday 5 September 2026 as a New Moon music journey headlined by UK house/progressive DJ Marsh. Doors 20:00, last entry 00:50, event 21:00–03:00, 18+. Papaya Playa Project's Full Moon is the beach hotel's ticketed Saturday music journey on Tulum's Boca Paila road. The 29 August 2026 edition runs 21:00–03:00 (doors 20:00; last entry 00:50), ages 18+. General admission starts around MXN 1,430 for Tulum residents with INE and MXN 2,090 early bird, with Mayan dinner add-ons from about MXN 3,300. Line-up was still TBA on the official Ticket Fairy page as of late August 2026.

JOYÀ is Cirque du Soleil's resident dinner show at VidantaWorld in the northern Riviera Maya: an 80-minute, no-intermission acrobatic production paired with a multi-course meal. Official Cirque pages list it as performing in the dedicated theater (historically Tuesday–Saturday; confirm the night you want). Tickets are sold through cirquedusoleil.com/joya and partners; dinner-and-show packages commonly start around USD 95–216 depending on category. This is a year-round resident production, not a one-week festival — it is listed here because performances continue through late August and September 2026.

The Kuul Tulum Sun Ritual is the official opening event for Kuul Tulum, the newest beach club in the Tulum Hotel Zone, taking place on 7 August 2026. The daytime gathering runs from 3 PM to 10 PM on the venue's beachfront deck and features a headline set from an unannounced special guest DJ, supported by a roster of resident selectors. The Sun Ritual concept is built as a sunset-to-evening progression, with the programming shifting from laid-back balearic grooves in the afternoon to driving house and Afro-house as the sun drops. Kuul Tulum is positioned as a more design-forward alternative to the established Hotel Zone clubs, with a focus on production quality, sound, and a curated food and cocktail program. The opening event is ticketed, with table reservations available through the venue directly. It marks the first of a planned series of Sun Ritual events running through the late summer and fall.

The adults-only Viceroy Riviera Maya celebrates its 20th anniversary over the July 24-26 weekend with wellness activities, culinary experiences, and a signature Oyster & Champagne Pairing event (fresh oysters, champagne pairings, beachfront setting, live DJ). PAAX GNP Festival is a cultural and musical festival described as "a sonic ritual to be reborn," held at Hotel Xcaret Arte in the Riviera Maya. The 2026 edition combines concerts, workshops, and cultural experiences in the hotel's eco-integrated architecture. The festival is included for hotel guests and features performances by renowned artists in an immersive setting blending music, nature, and Mexican culture.

Playa del Carmen's 123rd Feria del Carmen fills the Recinto Ferial and Plaza 28 de Julio with live music headliners, fairground rides, food stalls, a fishing-community maritime procession, and family entertainment over roughly a week around July 16, the feast day of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of fishermen. Free entry; rides and food are pay-as-you-go.

A free family-friendly festival celebrating local gastronomy, music, art, and community in the heart of downtown Playa del Carmen. The event features over 12 local restaurants, live music, artisan vendors, and family activities. Organized by the municipal government, the festival aims to promote the city's culinary scene, support local businesses, and bring activity to Playa del Carmen during the summer season.

Crash My Playa is a four-night destination country music festival curated by Luke Bryan, returning 15 to 18 January 2026 at the Moon Palace resort south of Cancún. The 2026 line-up includes Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Riley Green and Parker McCollum, with beachfront concerts each night and pool parties through the day. Packages bundle the concert wristband with a resort stay and start at roughly USD 2,400 per person for double occupancy. Day Zero Tulum is the electronic music event that opens the Riviera Maya festival season, founded by DJ Damian Lazarus and held deep in the Tulum jungle on 10 January 2026. The one-night gathering blends house and techno with ritual performance, fire, and immersive art installations built into the trees. The venue sits roughly 15 minutes south of Tulum town by taxi. Tickets start at MXN 3,500 (around USD 180) and sell out fast, usually before the line-up is announced. Bring cash, insect repellent and a light layer for the late-night drop in temperature.

Zamna Tulum is a season-long series of electronic music events running from 28 December 2025 through 15 January 2026 across jungle venues south of Tulum town. Each night features a different line-up of international house and techno DJs, with stages built into cenotes and clearings. Single-night tickets start at MXN 2,500 (about USD 130) via zamna.com, with full-season passes also sold. The season overlaps with Day Zero Tulum on 10 January. Tulum accommodation fills early in this window, so book weeks ahead. Taxis between town and the venues run MXN 200 to 400 each way.
